Do You Have Container Plants?

As the temperature begins to drop and the days get shorter it is time to switch out yoru container plants to something hardy that will look great throughout the fall.  Here are some suggestions for fall container plants.

Decorative Kale – Kale is a nice looking plant that blooms in deep pinks and purples.  As the temperatures get cooler the colors become more vibrant which make Kale a fun accent plant for any garden.

Stonecrop – This plant blooms from the late summer through the fall and is easy to grow inside containers.  You can leave this one out all winter as the flowers will dry and stay lovely in the snow.

Verbena – Verbena blooms from spring to fall and will continue blooming even after the container plantsfirst frost.  Verbena comes in many colors from pink to red to purple and is a drought hardy plant.  This is one you will need to fertilize regularly to get the most growth and flowers.

Coral Bells – This lovely plants will grow almost anywhere and can tolerate both sun and shade.   These are nice decorative plants and look great with other fall plants, pumpkins or flowers.

If you begin planting these selections in the late summer you will have wonderful blooming container plants that lasts until the first frosty days of winter.
