Water Features for your Garden

When the summer months are upon us, it’s natural to want to spend time in our backyard or garden. The main features of most gardens include a patio or decking area, flowerbeds and sometimes a water feature. If your garden doesn’t already have a fantastically relaxing water feature, consider some of these options:

Garden Ponds – a pond is one of the most basic water features for your garden. With an attractive combination of rocks, water plants and perhaps even fish, your garden pond can feel like a real oasis and can offer a great sense of relaxation whilst outside.

Fountains – another quite common option, a fountain can be placed in your pond or be a freestanding unit. Fountains spray water over their structure which can be of any material but some of the most common choices are rock and cast iron. There is a huge range of fountain types on the market from those that produce a soft bubbling to those which spurt gallons of water up in the air! The choice is yours.

Streams – your water feature could simply be a softly babbling brook or stream running through the center of your garden. If you have an outside faucet you’re definitely in a position to create your own stream and it can be a truly invigorating and calming feature for any garden.
Waterfalls – these are among the trickiest type of water features to install, unless your garden has significant elevation differences. If you have the capacity to construct your own waterfall it can be the most beautiful and soothing of all water features available!
These are just a few options, for more information; contact your local garden center.
